A team of 15 members of the National Association of Women Judges attended the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) Biennial Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Conference was opened at the Colin Theater, Buenos Aires, Argentina on the 2nd May 2018 by the Vice President of Argentina, H. E. Gabriela Michetti in the presence of the Hon The Chief Justice of Argentina Hon. Richard Lorenzetti.
The theme of the Biennial Conference was ‘Building Bridges between Women Judges of the World’ with an ongoing world wide campaign called ‘More Women, More Justice’.
Topics to be covered include Ruling with a Gender Perspective; the Legal situation of women; Perspectives from the world and Developments in Gender Based Violence Law; Femicide and many others .
The Ugandan delegation was led by Hon. Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke(JA)
Others include; Hon. Lady Justices Kiggundu, Elizabeth Alividza, Lydia Mugambe, Winfred Nabisinde, Susan Okalany; and their Worships Lilian Mwandha, Rosemary Bareebe, Janeva Natukunda, Dorothy Lwanga, Esther Nakadama, Roseline Nsenge, Carol Kabugho, Kagoya Jackline and Christine Nantege.
Principal Judge of the East African Court of Justice, Hon Justice Monica Mugenyi was also in attendance.
The judicial officers are part of the National Association of Women Judges – Uganda Chapter, an umbrella association of female judicial officers in Uganda.
This year’s conference was officially closed on the 6th May 2018.
