The National Association of Women Judges (NAWJU) would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Lady Justice Julia Sebutinde upon her re-appointment for a second term at the United Nations International Court of Justice (ICJ). She is the first ever African woman to sit on the World court since she joined in 2012. As a female Ugandan Judge, Justice Julia Sebutinde has demonstrated the capability women have to hold key positions of responsibility and influence and a testimony to her undisputed competences in adjudication.

NAWJU is an NGO composed of female judicial officers with a mission to improve justice for the vulnerable and attain gender equity. Justice Julia Sebutinde’ s win at the ICJ is an encouragement to the NAWJU mission and vision.

We look forward to celebrating more achievements of female judicial officers in Uganda.

Lady Justice Henrietta Wolayo

NAWJU President.
